Samsung Galaxy A53 & A54 Repair Melbourne — Screen, Battery, Every Fault

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G (2022) was Samsung's best-selling mid-range phone globally for much of 2022 and 2023 — a genuinely strong phone at a mid-range price that convinced millions of users to skip flagship-tier spend. The A54 5G (2023) followed in March 2023, refining the A53's design with a smaller 6.4-inch frame, a more polished build, and the Exynos 1380 chip.

The Galaxy A53 5G uses a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED+ display at FHD+ (1080×2400) resolution with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. This is a genuinely excellent display for a mid-range phone — the AMOLED technology provides deep blacks, vivid colour, and efficient power use that IPS LCD at this price tier can't match. The A53's display runs at up to 120Hz adaptive, dropping to lower rates to preserve battery. A cracked screen replacement restores all of these characteristics with an OEM-specification panel.

The Galaxy A54 5G uses a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED at the same FHD+ 120Hz specification. The A54's screen is slightly smaller than the A53 — a refinement Samsung made when users and reviewers noted the A53's width. The A54 also introduced a flat frame design (vs the A53's slightly rounded frame) and updated rear camera placement. The A54 is generally considered a more polished phone than the A53, but both use comparable display technology.

Battery performance is the most common repair need for both phones in 2026. The A53 and A54 both carry 5,000mAh cells — Samsung's standard for the mid-range A series since 2021. At 3–4 years of daily charge cycles, many cells are at 65–75% of their original capacity. A degraded 5,000mAh battery at 70% is 3,500mAh — still large by absolute standards, but the subjective difference from a fresh cell is significant, especially under heavy use. Charging port (USB-C) wear is the other common fault at 3–4 years. The A53 and A54 both use USB-C 2.0 — not as fast to charge as the USB-C 3.x on Samsung's flagship S series, but the port itself is susceptible to the same lint accumulation and pin wear from daily use. Port replacement from $69.
