The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ launched in March 2018 as a refinement of the landmark S8 design — the curved Infinity Display, glass-sandwich build, and IP68 water resistance carried over, while the fingerprint sensor moved to a more sensible position below the camera and the main camera gained a variable f/1.5–2.4 aperture. The S9 was also one of the last Samsung flagships to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack, which keeps it in demand among owners who want wired audio.

The Galaxy S9 uses a 5.8-inch curved Super AMOLED at QHD+ (1440×2960); the S9+ steps up to a 6.2-inch panel at the same resolution. Both are dual-curved Infinity Displays, which means the glass meets the aluminium frame at an angle — replacement requires controlled heat softening and careful separation to avoid cracking the new panel during fitting. Battery degradation is the single most common S9 repair reason in 2026. The S9 carries a 3,000mAh cell and the S9+ a 3,500mAh cell — both are around 8 years old and commonly sit at 60–70% of original capacity. A worn battery causes fast drain, unexpected shutdowns at 20–30%, and extra warmth as the power-management system works harder. An OEM-spec replacement from $69 restores full-day endurance. Because the rear glass is glued, we lift it with heat and suction, fit the new cell, and reseal with fresh adhesive to maintain the IP68 rating.

USB-C charging port repair is the second most common S9 job. After years of daily charging, the port collects lint and the contacts wear, causing intermittent charging or a port that only works at a certain cable angle. Cleaning sometimes resolves it, but worn ports are replaced from $79.
