LG makes world-class televisions — from budget LED models to the renowned OLED range that professional reviewers consistently rate among the best displays on the planet. When an LG TV fails, the question is always the same: is repair worth it? For most LG models under 8 years old, and especially for OLED and NanoCell models, the answer is yes.
At STS Roxburgh Park, we repair LG TVs at the board level. We identify the specific failed component — a capacitor, a backlight driver IC, a power transistor, a timing controller — and replace it. That approach delivers a repair cost significantly lower than LG's authorised service and faster turnaround than a warranty claim. We repair all LG TV ranges: LED, NanoCell, QNED, OLED C, G, Z, and Evo series.
LG LED and NanoCell TV backlight repairs are among our most common TV jobs. The backlighting system uses LED strips behind the LCD panel — when strips fail, the screen goes dark while the TV continues to produce sound. We test all LED circuits, replace the failed sections, and calibrate the output. Most backlight repairs complete in 2–3 days.
LG OLED TVs have a fundamentally different display technology — each pixel emits its own light, which is why OLED blacks are so deep and the viewing angles so wide. OLED TVs don't have a backlight to fail, but they can develop mainboard, T-CON (Timing Controller), or power board faults. OLED panel replacements are typically not economical (the panel costs more than the TV), but board-level repairs often are.
LG T-CON board issues typically cause lines across the screen, partial blackouts, or scrambled images in one section of the display. T-CON is a separate board from the main board, and repair or replacement is usually economical even on OLED models.
LG webOS issues — apps crashing, the Smart TV interface freezing, connectivity problems — are usually software-level and can often be resolved with a firmware reset. Where webOS problems are caused by mainboard hardware failure, we repair at the component level.
