The PS5 DualSense controller launched in November 2020. Within months, reports of analogue stick drift began appearing globally — controllers registering movement when the sticks were untouched, causing characters to walk, menus to scroll, and aim to drift without input. Sony faced multiple class-action lawsuits in the US over DualSense drift; the company was found by iFixit and others to use the same potentiometer-based stick design that caused widespread drift in the DualShock 4.

After 4+ years of DualSense use, drift is now the single most common repair request for PS5 accessories. A $59 stick module replacement restores a controller that would otherwise cost $130+ new. STS Roxburgh Park repairs DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers with OEM-compatible stick modules and a 6-month warranty.

Stick drift repair replaces the analogue stick mechanism — the component responsible for reading joystick position. The original DualSense stick uses a potentiometer where a small wiper tracks across a carbon resistive strip. As the strip wears (typically after 300–600 hours of play), it produces inconsistent readings, causing drift. We replace both stick modules simultaneously if both are worn — which is usually the case after extended use. Drift repair from $59 (single stick), $89 (both sticks). Same day or next day.

Adaptive trigger repair covers the L2 and R2 trigger mechanisms on the DualSense. The adaptive triggers use motors, springs, and a ratchet mechanism to provide varying resistance — pressing through different resistance levels is part of games that support DualSense haptics. The trigger mechanism can break at the ratchet teeth (especially in racing and shooting games where players press the trigger hard repeatedly). L2/R2 trigger repair from $49. DualSense Edge trigger module replacement from $69.

Charging port repair covers the USB-C port on the DualSense's lower edge. DualSense ports fail from the same causes as phone ports — repeated connection and disconnection with cables at angles, and mechanical stress from the cable weight during charging sessions. Port replacement from $39.

Battery replacement restores DualSense charge duration. The DualSense uses a 1,560mAh battery that provides 8–12 hours of play when new. After 2–3 years of daily use (500+ charge cycles), the battery may last only 2–4 hours. A battery replacement from $49 restores full play time. OEM-compatible cell with 6-month warranty.

Touchpad faults — the DualSense's large touchpad can fail to register taps or swipes, develop dead zones, or crack from physical impact. Touchpad replacement from $59.

DualSense Edge repair covers the premium wireless controller released in 2023. The Edge has swappable stick modules (Sony's approach to addressing drift), swappable trigger modules, programmable back buttons, and a customisable faceplate. Edge-specific faults include the stick module retention mechanism, the trigger lock switches, and the back paddle buttons. DualSense Edge repairs from $69.
